(A work in progress.) Safe houses make up for a fundamental part of criminal operations in Mexico, and serve several purposes.
Safe houses are typically sought out and purchased by members of the auxiliary; often women, whom are generally considered to draw less attention. These are sometimes derelict homes or those which have been bought at fair prices so as to not raise suspicions of their true purpose.
They are many and innumerable, with some factions and sector leaders claiming to have dozens of these properties in their retinue.
And just as they are many do they serve several purposes. They are most often used to house members of a faction's estacas, but are also used to hide guns, drugs - and more notoriously abducted captives whom will be ransomed off.
Many of these properties will be purposed specifically to these individual aims, and never the two shall mix due to the compartmentalized nature of Cártel operations. Separate cells will never use the same safe houses regardless of whether they are allies or not, nor will they be aware of another estacas assigned houses for reasons of security.
In many instances we also find these safe houses being used to bury bodies, as they are sometimes vast properties and ranches which can be used as clandestine graves. As well, they are often the setting for Narco execution or interrogation videos, where members know they will not be bothered when extracting information and confessions from a rival.
