The Terceiro Comando Puro, perhaps more easily known as the TCP is an organization which broke away from the Third Command in 2002.
They're reputed as being one of the largest gangs in Rio de Janeiro, second only to the Comando Vermelho and Amigos dos Amigos.
It is these three organizations which dominate the favelas of Rio, and with whom the TCP war with on a daily basis.
Their origins can be traced back to the original Third Command, whom were a splinter group of the Comando Vermelho which formed in the 80's and which held a tentative alliance with the ADA when it split from the CV in 1998.
However, territorial incursions and the Third Command's incarcerated leaders being picked off by the Comando Vermelho left some members and some factional kingpins of the Third Command looking for something more. Something a little more stable and standalone from their loose alliance with Amigos dos Amigos.
Hence, the creation of the Pure Third Command. Though seeming to only be located within Rio de Janeiro, this gang operates primarily within its northern and western favelas and has a strong presence there. They are at war with the Comando Vermelho and Amigos dos Amigos, though the original Third Command is no more. It's leaders dead and its members having moved on, chasing the money wherever it can be found - and that means new loyalties.
It is this same old story of old blood, new blood & the ever turning wheels of time and greed which allow the Terceiro Comando Puro to flourish and roll on through Rio's slums. Extorting, murdering and robbing wherever they go.
